On my first lesson with Martin he straight away advised that as I am 6'1" in height getting fitted longer clubs would be a good idea. He stated this won't necessarily make me a better player but will certainly rule one thing out as being the problem with any bad shots. I used a longer 7 iron he had and it felt instantly better than my current clubs. Improved my grip and went back to basics, looking forward to building on this with him.
I have been having lessons with Martin for the last few months. I have dropped 6 points from my handicap in that period and that alone is an absolute miracle! look forward to my lessons as Martin has a way of explaining detailed technical requirements in very straightforward layman terms. He has the patience of a saint and a range of memorable motivational quotes. I do and would recommend his services to anyone.
I have been having lessons with Martin for 18 months. I have found him a very relaxed, fun, but incredibly constructive trainer and since having lessons I am more confident and enjoying my golf so much more. No longer am I struggling around the golf course but can utilise what he has taught me to really develop my game. He was able to advise me in purchasing my new set of made to measure clubs and this has further developed my game. Thank you, Martin.
Martin has taught me and my sons for many years now and it was upon his suggestion that we all had custom fitting sessions for new clubs more suitable to our respective ages, heights and strengths. We were all impressed with the results. In the end two of us bought from Titleist while the other chose Ping. Having clubs we are happy with boosts confidence and encourages better, more consistent ball striking and thus more rewarding golf. Even on a bad day you can't blame the tools!
I am a newbie to golf and Martin has been working with me for the last 8 months. We have been focusing on golfing fundamentals, building a base and working on my consistency. Martin has been instrumental to my continued progression in the game and I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with him. He is knowledgable, friendly and patient throughout.
I have known Martin a very long time, when we first met I could only use my irons - and not very well! Now I can use all my clubs, my golf would be a lot better if I had followed Martin more, ie don't move my body in particular my head - when I do what he says it works. I would score Martin 5 Stars. If I have a question about my game, we talk until i understand the answer, I then put it to the test and what do know it works.
Martin is a gentleman, has a great sense of humor, always has a story, always prepared for you but never takes his eye or mind off your technique. He constantly wants you to improve and his skill is making you relax and believe you can do it. He delivers, he is kind, he demands the best from you, he commits to you absolutely and above all he makes you a better golfer. You begin to understand that the smallest of nuances create a massive change. My best recommendation is that he is part of my family’s journey and history. Both my sons play golf regularly and I put this down largely to Martin making them fall in love with the game.
I started having lessons with Martin around 6 months ago as a complete beginner. He has been very helpful with my development and when he felt I had reached a stage where having new clubs would benefit me, he made useful recommendations on where I could try out new ones before buying. After trying out a few different clubs, I discussed my results with Martin, before making my final decision. As he thought I would, after a few hits I quickly noticed a difference compared to my older clubs, and Martin has since helped me develop my game with them.
If you are thinking of having lessons for golf either as a beginner and or as a seasoned golfer, I cannot recommend Martin Foreman enough as a true all round golfing teacher and coach. Martin has provided expert lessons, guidance, and advice for my entire family for almost eighteen years. He has taught both my sons from the age of three years old up to date, my eldest now twenty-one. Being a PGA professional was important to me as it provides a certain confidence that you are dealing with someone who is vetted and has huge knowledge. Martin offers much more than an improved golf swing though as he encapsulates every aspect of golf, the mindset, the strategy, and the etiquette needed.
Martin's patient, structured coaching has helped me regain my golfing confidence following a serious dip in form. He is friendly, approachable, and able to communicate his point clearly. He has also significantly improved my course and game management skills, an often neglected aspect of golf. As Martin often says, "good bad shot", "take your medicine" and "think one shot at a time".
Martin Foreman has overseen my playing abilities since I took up the game of golf. He provides me, not only tuition on my golf swing, he also advises on course management, rules, and etiquette. His style of teaching comes from individual needs rather than straight from a manual, i.e. what may work for one, may not work for everybody. It is very much a case of working with the “Player” and Martin achieves this through patience and perseverance and the ability to see the faults in the individual. I always come away from a lesson satisfied that (provided I practice what he teaches) that it has been a worthwhile experience. Although I no longer live in the Southend area, I still come back for my invaluable tuition. I am now playing off a handicap of 9 and feel sure I would not be at this level without Martin’s help.
